Project 365 - Day 25 (The Last Day)

OH NO MR. BILL! HE QUIT!

Seriously folks... It was a fun few weeks but now feels like a chore. I'm taking pictures of toys, pictures out my windshield driving down the road that look so bad I'm clicking through options in Photoshop to make it suck a little less (see yesterday's picture). I'm putting no thought or effort into it and it feels cheap. Sorry. - jrl

Project 365 - Day 21

Milestones

A couple milestones all in one picture. The obvious, 50,000 miles on my car, and less obvious, I have now used and posted a picture with every (working) camera I own (four if you're keeping track). Of course the day my car hits 50K miles I have to use my cell phone camera (max resolution 2 megapixels) because I had no other alternative while driving down the road. At least I slowed down to take the picture though right?

Side note: need new cell phone with better camera

Project 365 - Day 19

Grotesquely Tired

Not even a month in and I'm walking around my house a 9 o'clock at night just looking for anything to take a picture of...

Here we have one of my favorite gargoyles that I have collected over the years. Turns out I know very little about some things I collect. In architecture, a gargoyle is a carved stone grotesque with a spout designed to convey water from a roof and away from the side of a building. So technically, this is called a grotesque. Why the lesson in stone architecture? It makes the title of this picture sound clever.

Project 365 - Day 17

Julianna and the Giant Icicle

Julianna and I went outside to sled ride for a bit and knock the icicles off the back of our house and some of them turned out to be quite large. Since we were going to be outside for awhile I opted to use our point & shoot camera instead of lugging my DSLR out into the elements.

Project 365 - Day 16

Gimme a brake...

I spent the better (or worse) part of 6 hours replacing all the rotors (4) and brake pads (4 sets) on my wife's car today. It's only fitting that I took a picture of one of the shiny new rotors. It'll never look that clean again.

Project 365 - Day 13

Joself

Long before I decided to take this project on I had seen various other Project 365 ideas. Some people actually try to do this with ALL self portraits. As much as I love taking pictures, I'm not a huge fan of having my picture taken, and I'm even less of a fan when I'm the one taking the picture. As far as this project goes, spring & nice weather/lighting can't get here soon enough.

Project 365 - Day 12

It started

This is quickly turning into weak picture week. At least my snow blower is working... I hate that this is my picture for day 12.

Project 365 - Day 11

Driving While Photographing

Rough commute, didn't have my SLR but did happen to have my Pocket HD video/camera. This was just about the only thing besides brake lights that was a bright spot on the way home. Not the best quality picture (especially at full size) but considering it was shot form my car through my windshield, it's pretty good.

Project 365 - Day 10

I'ma read! I'ma learn to read! -CR

In an effort to continue this project I took over 50 pictures today, every one of them forced. Then, after I put my camera away Josie decide she was going to read "Fancy Nancy." Sometimes the best ones aren't planned at all!

Project 365 - Day 9

I want my baby back, baby back, baby back... Chiliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii's baby back ribs... Barbeque Sauce!

Now that song is stuck in your head and you're craving ribs too. You're welcome.

I like winter, I like snow, but right now I'd just like some ribs.

Project 365 - Day 8

Sisters

All bundled up to play in the snow this morning. A little sledding, a few snow angels (even I made one) and believe it or not, swing rides. Josie spent most of the time in a swing and Julianna spent most of her time asking me to make snowballs so she could hit me with them...

Project 365 - Day 7

Lookin' up....

One week down, 51 more to go. I'm afraid this is the first of what could be many "cheap shots" meaning not much thought or work went into it. I didn't get a chance at lunch to go on a walk and took this quick snap shot of the Bug just to fulfill my picture a day quota. While it's not altogether bad, I feel like I cheated. This picture is the equivalent of being on a diet and saying I was good all week so I can eat a whole pizza and wash it down with a few six beers. Speaking of which, it's Friday and 5 O'clock somewhere....

Project 365 - Day 6

This cracks me up...

Now, I don't generally find vandalism or graffiti funny, but in this instance I do. Mook's "work" could be seen all around Pittsburgh in the late 90's an early 2000's but most of it has been cleaned up. So he decided to make it harder to clean up and almost 10 years later, no one has dared climb to the top of the 10th street bridge to get rid of this one. In the picture in the link above Mook's tag is the only one visible. A few others have added their tags, but Mook was the original.

Project 365 - Day 5

I took a walk at lunch today and at the very last minute settled on the object below. I spent 25 minutes walking around looking for something to shoot and this was a minute from my building. While I was packing my camera up after taking the picture I wasn't all that happy with it. A few minutes in Photoshop helped it out a lot I think.

Project 365 - Day 3

Hard to believe a couple days ago it was pushing 60 degrees. Saw this frost on the glass of a storm door and thought the crystals would make a nice picture. Should have used my 300mm macro zoom but I was in a hurry... and I'm off today. I sure hope I can keep this up once I return to work.

Project 365 - Day 2

It's only day two and already a pattern has developed... Day #2 features my second most photographed subject, Josie. This is actually one of very few feet pictures I have taken of her though. Josie's after nap mission is to see how many articles of clothing she can remove before we come to get her. On this day she was down to her onesie and a diaper. I brought her and her jeans and socks down from her room and into the living room. Miss Independent likes to try to dress herself after removing these items and decided one sock was going to be enough for the day. I ran and got my camera and below is what I got.

Project 365 - Day 1

For the past couple years I have wanted to attempt to take (at least) a photo a day for a year. I get into ruts when I don't pick my camera up for weeks at a time and I'm hoping this project will lead to some great photos and also challenge me to search and find something photo worthy each day.

For photo #1, I went with my #1 subject thus far in my photographic life, Julianna.
